Behaviour

Jacky’s are a semi arboreal & terrestrial species,
and can be found sunning on fallen trees or on the sand.
they are a fast moving dragon can be seen sunning them selves on beach walking tracks
then darting off to safety only to stop and have a look behind them selves and darting off again.
They are an insectivore , eating mainly insects and prefer to wait and ambushing there prey , i have seen them in the wild chasing moths and dragonflys,
also licking dew from flowers to rehydrate.

Water

As with all dragons a water bowl of clean water should be
supplied, this needs to be clean on daiky basis as dragons like to soak in them.
Also misting as dragon like to lick up water droplets.
I have found there are small water falls at Bunnings for $20
and are great as the dragons see the water moving and drink
from this more than a water bowl.

Diet

Jacky Dragons are insectivores and prefer live food ,
woodies, crickets, locus and beetles,
some captive breed Dragons will take dandilion flowers and chicken mince and a good quality dog food.
Pinky mice are also good for pregnant females to put on
weight.
Also there are a few commercial bearded dragon foods ,
i have found the ones with colour work best.

Supplements

Dusting as it is know.
Is food dusted with a calcium or vitamin powder and is a must
for a good healthy Dragon, every second feed.
This can be done by placing live food in a container or bag and adding a small
amount of either calcium or or vitamin powder in to the bag and shaking it so it mixes
with the live food and the woodies or crickets get covered in the dust.

Lighting & Heating

One of the most important features of an indoor enclosure
is a UVB full spectrum light (this is not a heat source)
but provides UVB rays or wave lengths similar to that of the sun
which will help against Metabolic Bone Disease and help with growth
of a healthy Hatchling
it must be placed no more than 30cm from base of enclosure
as the further away the weaker the wavelength is
Dragons require another form of heat source
either a heat mat or basking light both should be controlled by a
Thermostat, with a part of the enclosure cooler than the other.
You can never under estimate the true value of natural sunlight.
